Great toy. Sturdy. The ball captivated their attention and they used the cardboard ring to scratch on. The cats loved this toy for all but two days.
The box how ever has been a big part of their lives. They play in it. They chill in it. They scratch on it. They even have cuddle sessions in there when they can't cuddle with me. I don't know why I bother buying special toys for them when I should just be buying boxes.
It does have a little problem, but it is still worthy of 5 stars. It comes with 4 tiny rubber feet that jam in 4 holes on the bottom to keep it from sliding around, however they come out very easily. After searching high and low for the 4 lost feet and replacing them in their holes, I covered mine with waffle non-slip drawer liner and taped it in place either side of each foot. Though it makes the toy slightly less attractive, it does the job (they could probably be glued in place with strong glue, too). Without the feet, it slips on our wood floor each time she jumps on. Our cat plays with it night and day. She is very agile at pushing the ball around, pushing it one way and then the other like a ping pong player playing with her own self.
I ordered this for my sisters new rescue kitten, she absolutely loves it. I have them for my cats who never tire of playing with them.

I set this down and went and found my cat. I got him to follow me over to it, where he took one look at it, got down into a pouncing position, jumped over and started scratching on it. His tail bumped the ball and surprised him, so he promptly hit it, then spent the next 15 minutes straight playing with it. He'd back way off and watch the ball slowly come to a stop, then pounce back over on it. Since the first week or so, he hasn't scratched at it so much, and he's back to scratching furniture and carpet, so it's not holding his attention. I wish it came with a packet of catnip to put in the cardboard. I'm ordering another scratcher that does come with some catnip to see if it gets his attention any better.
Well it's a cardboard scratcher so it will need to be replaced. However, 2 out of 3 cats loved it. One cat likes to just sit on it all the time like a little cat-loaf. Weird... but...cats... so what can you do? Beware of putting it near your bedroom on a hard wood or tile floor. Cats are active at night so... plan on your cat using it when you're trying to sleep. The ball inside, I thought it was going to be quiet like a ping pong ball. It isn't, it's some kind of hard plastic ball with some weight to it. Makes a heck of a racket when the cat goes to town on it at 3 am, and when he scratches it the thing slides across the floor and makes a screeeeeeeech sound that wake us up. We were flipping it over a night for a while so he couldn't use it but stopped because the cat loved it so much we couldn't do that to him, it's like his favorite toy.
